SUBSTITUTE aims to redefine familiar signs through
the tools of modern fabrication.
The fascination for the artificial worlds promised by
contemporary materials coexist with their ambiguous
rapport with the 'natural' landscape they have replaced.
The play on forms and appearances is now liberated
from the constraints of traditional fabrication and usage.
We got used to relate to our environment through the
mediation of an omnipresent visual imagery, expressed
in everyday popular culture, in spaces such as home, work, leisure, sport, holidays.
SUBSTITUTE seeks to explore visible codes at work
in the definition of a language for objects. |
